Thanks Giving

BECAUSE, WHEN THEY KNEW GOD, THEY GLORIFIED HIM NOT AS GOD, NEITHER WERE "THANKFUL", BUT BECAME VAIN IN THEIR IMAGINATIONS, AND THEIR FOOLISH HEAR WAS DARKENED. Romans 1:21

This is a very interesting verse to me. It should be a warning to us all as individuals and as a nation. If you read this verse within the context in which it is written, you will learn that generations in the past, who at one time KNEW GOD, that is acknowledge the sovereignty, the Lordship of God, got to the place in their earthly living, where they became independent of God.

Oh, they no doubt gave Him lip service. At first they may not have actually shook their fist at Him. They acted "religious" , but in their hearts and then soon in their actions , the GLORIFIED Him not. Soon they patted themselves on the back for all the wonderful things that they as humans had accomplished. They looked around at the little puny structures they had built, the scientific knowledge they professed, the medical accomplishments they developed. They became a god unto themselves.

So with such an attitude, they obviously forgot to be THANKFUL for the daily provisions that God provided. Does that sound like any generation you know of in 1997 ? Let's be careful we don't just point fingers at the younger generation. As a senior citizen myself, I have seen some pretty ungrateful senior adults in my day. Oh we too, often do the lip service thing, but I wonder do we really give thanks. Dear reader let me give you a formula to consider this Thanksgiving as you think about being THANKFUL.

How to Observe Thanksgiving:

	Count your BLESSINGS instead of your crosses.
	Count your GAINS instead of your losses.
	Count your JOYS instead of your woes.
	Count your FRIENDS instead of your foes.
	Count your SMILES instead of your tears.
	Count your COURAGE instead of your fears.
	Count your FULL YEARS instead of your lean.
	Count your KIND DEEDS instead of your mean.
	Count your HEALTH instead of your wealth.
	Count on GOD instead of yourself.

Well I trust I have given you something to think about. Remember the road to broken fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ, starts by forgetting to stop in the REST AREA's of THANKFULNESS. When we get so busy in our daily living, that we forget to be THANKFUL, we are in danger of doing what is revealed in verse 22, following the text we have provided above. PROFESSING THEMSELVES TO BE WISE, THEY BECAME FOOLS. Will you join me this Thanksgiving Season and just spend the week and express thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for His wonderful love and redemption on our behalf.
