Our
Origins
Nute Ridge Bible Chapel traces its origin to its dedication on Thursday, October 23, 1890. Chapel one was built under the provisions of the will of Lewis W. Nute, a wealthy leather and shoe merchant from Boston who was born on the ridge in 1820 and died at the same homestead in 1888. Nute left a million-dollar estate and became a great benefactor to his hometown, including not only the chapel but also the high school and library that bears his name.
In 1947, after successfully weathering the great depression and World War II, the congregants of Nute Ridge incorporated the church as we know it today. God has seen fit to bless this little church on the ridge and after great growth starting in the 1990’s we outgrew the sanctuary that had housed us for the last century and broke ground on Chapel Two. The new sanctuary was opened in 2004 and then the building was expanded in 2014.
